Are you with us?!? About the Opportunity Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Project Manager is accountable for a range of projects including capital, maintenance, and operations projects to support the manufacturing facility.
In this role, you will be required to actively interface with operations, maintenance, purchasing, equipment vendors, and outside engineering firms.
Additionally, he or she will be responsible for providing technical advice and applying trouble-shooting skills to resolve technical problems.
Essential Functions and Primary
Responsibilities:
Must follow Ahlstrom's manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position's areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper.
Provide technical support for Manufacturing, Envops, Plant Engineering and other departments throughout the division.
Outside travel required to develop projects in support of business objectives, visit vendor facilities, conduct trials, attend seminars, training, and other company sites.
Oversee crane maintenance and inspection program for all cranes and hoists in the plant.
Lead and/or work with multi-functional groups to achieve project and team objectives.
Provide leadership and instruction as required to implement new installations.
Train others in safe and effective practices.
Plan and develop Capital Project requests, including the financial estimating and business justifications.
Work closely with Maintenance and Operations personnel to investigate equipment malfunctions and/or new installation design and development.
Much of this work is done in the production areas and use of a variety of ladders, material handling, power equipment, measuring devices and test equipment will be required.
Plan, design and install all projects to be in compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations.
Conduct final safety review of all project installations and interface with all levels of management to report results.
Provide project management, leadership and skills to direct others and keep assigned projects within time and budget.
Operate computer hardware, a variety of software including CAD applications and effectively communicate with all segments of the organization and with a wide variety of outside vendors and contract personnel.
Must have knowledge of Ahlstrom Information Security policies and is for his/her own part responsible for ensuring information security when handling information and maintaining or using information systems or information networks.
Minimum Occupational Requirements:
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

years of experience in continuous process plant.
Papermaking process knowledge is an added advantage.
Minimum of 3 years in a Project Engineer position with consistently proven and demonstrated high quality performance.
Ability to place a concentrated effort into investigating, analyzing, planning, designing, and directing the execution of a wide variety of engineering solutions to support the quality, safety, reliability, and maintenance of buildings and equipment.
Must operate computer hardware and various software programs, including CAD.
Must avail self with internal and external compliance resources to be fully cognizant of and compliant with all applicable local, state and federal regulations relating to building codes, health, safety and environment.
Business travel may be required to visit off-site locations.
This position supports a 24/7 operation, and the occupant will be required to perform duties during emergency situations and project assignments which may occur outside their regular work schedule.
Physical Job Requirements:
Frequent exposure to general factory conditions, process chemicals, and inclement weather conditions while performing duties.
