ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR (Title 32)

Indefinite Appointment/Temporary promotion not to exceed two (2) years. The purpose of the indefinite appointment/temporary promotion is to backfill a deployed Soldier. The indefinite appointment/temporary promotion will be terminated within 30 days of return of the incumbent to the position. JOB
Summary:
The purpose of this position is to inspect the repair of electronics equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to:
Uses a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems such as radar, radio communications receivers, and transmitters (single band, UHF and VHF), mobile subscriber equipment (MSE), missile guidance systems, laser range finders, and electronic fire control systems. Conducts inspections, diagnoses nature and extent of equipment malfunction, and as required, performs required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc. Inspects equipment to determine repairs needed. Inspects the full range of equipment as described above at remote worksites in support of field organizations, field units during field exercise training periods, or before major pieces of equipment are sent for repair to a supporting maintenance facility. Uses various types of test equipment such as systems tests sets, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, AN/GRM-122s, and other electronic testing devices to inspect equipment and components. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed both inside and outside. When inside, incumbent is frequently exposed to drafts, heat, changing temperatures, and noise. When outside, may sometimes work in adverse weather, in mud or snow, and in wet or icy areas. Both inside and outside, the incumbent is frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, and hard damp floors or ground. Typically works on components and systems, which are dirty, oily, or greasy. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, burns or bruises, electrical shock and sprains while repairing, positioning, moving equipment. Is often exposed to the possibility of receiving burns and skin irritations from acid, fluids, solder, and lubricants. May use safety equipment for extended periods such as protective ear devices, eye protection, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, respirators, and protective clothing. PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work assignments require employees to frequently lift and carry, unassisted, items weighing up to 40 pounds. Sometimes required to lift and carry items weighing more than40 pounds with the help of material handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping, and working in inverted positions. Climbing and working in high places may be required. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components. GENERAL
Experience:
Experience which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 18 months of specialized experience in the following:
Experience in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of electronic testing, repair, and inspection procedures. Ability to operate complex instruments and testing devices used in the electronics trade. Ability to follow complex schematics and trace malfunctions to their source. Ability to apply a wide variety of inspection techniques to examine electronic components, assemblies, and systems. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:
For an indefinite appointment which is to backfill a deployed technician, MOS and unit of assignment are waived for 18 months following assignment. However, rank requirement must be met to avoid grade inversion. For temporary promotions, the MOS and unit remains with the permanent position from which temporarily promoted. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
