Indefinite appointment/temporary promotion not to exceed two (2) years. The purpose of the indefinite appointment/temporary promotion is to backfill a deployed Soldier. The indefinite appointment/temporary promotion will be terminated within 30 days of return of the incumbent to the position. JOB
Summary:
The purpose of this position is toperform maintenance, repair, and inspections on small arms and related devices. The primary purpose is to provide maintenance repair and accurization of national match weapons. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to:
Performs accurization of national match weapons (pistols, rifles, and light machine guns) on a limited basis. Disassembles weapons, assemblies, subassemblies and other components. Performs overhaul, maintenance, and repair on a variety of small arms. Uses micrometer to measure altered tolerances and makes additional adjustments as required. Is responsible for accountability, storage and security of arms and other sensitive items while they are kept for repair, usually in vaults with limited access. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in shop buildings that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. Stands on concrete floors or other hard surfaces for long periods. Exposed to oil, grease, and solvents when cleaning and lubricating weapons. Frequently exposed to the possibility of minor cuts and bruises from tools or sharp edges of metal. Subject to noise when test firing weapons. PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Frequently lifts subassemblies or small weapons weighing 15 to 20 pounds. Often carries large assemblies or weapons weighing up 50 pounds. Work requires walking, bending, and long periods of standing. GENERAL
Experience:
Experience which demonstrates a working knowledge to read and interpret instructions, repair manual, specifications and drawings; must have a knowledge of shop mathematics sufficient to use testing devices and measuring instruments; and be proficient in the use and maintenance of hand tools and equipment. Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 18 months of specialized experience in the following:
Experience demonstrating substantial mechanical skill is required to effectively and efficiently repair, overhaul, and rebuild small arms for both conventional uses and for weapons involving accurization. Experience to inspect, diagnose malfunctioning, wear and/or damage is required. Experience demonstrating the ability to perform accurization procedures on weapons to improve their performance. Experience demonstrating knowledge of other trades in order to modify and/or manufacture weapons parts for accurization. Experience to apply technical manuals, regulations, specifications and drawings to determine operation, assembly and tolerances of the variety of weapons worked on is required for successful performance. Experience using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools and gages. Experience with tools including drills, files, precision gages and measuring instruments, magnafluxing equipment and/or borescopes to determine when parts are worn or damaged beyond acceptable tolerances. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:
For an indefinite appointment which is to backfill a deployed technician, MOS and unit of assignment are waived for 18 months following assignment. However, rank requirement must be met to avoid grade inversion. For temporary promotions, the MOS and unit remains with the permanent position from which temporarily promoted. This position is covered by the medical monitoring program. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examination prior to appointment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
